Amusement parks are exciting places full of rides, games, and themed areas—sometimes a fantasy land, a wild west town, or even a futuristic city. One of the classic rides you might find is a cable car, gliding high above the park to give passengers a bird’s-eye view. In this project, you’ll let your imagination run wild by designing your very own amusement park ride. What theme will your ride have? Will it be magical, adventurous, or futuristic?

Water Wheel
When water moves, it carries energy. You’ve probably felt the push of a strong wave in the sea or seen how quickly a river can rush downstream. That power comes from the water’s movement, and people have been using it for centuries with inventions like the water wheel. A water wheel captures moving water’s energy to grind grain, saw wood, or even power machinery. In this activity, you’ll explore how water energy works and think about how it connects to other rides and machines, even the Ferris wheel!

Maglev Train
An electromagnet is a special kind of magnet that only works when electricity flows through it. Unlike ordinary magnets, electromagnets can be turned on and off, and they are strong enough to power amazing inventions. One exciting use of electromagnets is in maglev trains—super-fast trains that float just above the tracks using magnetic force! Some amusement parks and city metros use the same technology. In this project, you’ll explore how electromagnets work and imagine what future transport could look like.
