Craft description:
Peace Dove:
In 1948, after a long war, leaders from around the world came together and declared, “This should never happen again! We need to make sure everyone knows about these important rules.” From this decision came the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a list of the most important human rights for everyone.
One of the terms in the UDHR is “peace.” Being peaceful means getting along with one another and living without war. A peace dove is often used to represent these values, making this craft a thoughtful way to explore peace and human rights.
Flags of Britain Bunting:
The word “bunting” originally referred to a lightweight woolen fabric used for flags and naval signals. Over time, bunting became connected to flags, celebrations, and festivals, especially in Britain and across Europe. It has decorated events ranging from royal occasions to Armed Forces celebrations. With this project, children can design and create their own British-themed bunting, combining creativity with cultural history.
Camouflage Binoculars:
Imagine an animal that can almost disappear into its surroundings! Camouflage is when an animal’s colours or patterns help it blend into the background — either to hide from predators or to sneak up on prey. Chameleons that change colour or zebras with their stripes are great examples. Humans also use camouflage, such as the Armed Forces with their uniforms and face paints. With this binoculars craft, children can explore how camouflage works both in nature and in human settings.
